We believe in the salvation granted to us through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  How are we going to make from earth to Glory?  By hearing and applying the Word in every situation and circumstance in our lives.  We hope that God’s Word as spoken thru Pastor Miner is a much of a blessing to you as it is to us.

On January 27, 1901, in a scene reminiscent of the first century church, a small group of Christians met and organized a Sunday School at the home of the Bumbrey family located on Sheriff Road in Northeast Washington, District of Columbia.  This band of faithful members named the Sunday School the Deanwood mission.  The Reverend J.T. Clark of Providence Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. conducted the Mission's first revival.

The Deanwood Mission was organized into a church in 1902 and thereafter called The First Baptist Church of Deanwood.  The Church's first building was erected shortly thereafter and remodeled several times between 1914 and 1927.  Ground was broken on the third building (Brent Memorial Chapel) in 1929 and completed nine years later.
